I guess I've only been in class for three days, technically two because one was still "orientation" ... but it feels like at least a month. Not because I'm not enjoying it, though! I'm kind of surprised to find that I don't hate doing all the reading ... don't love how it deprives me of the rest of my life, but other than that, it's cool. Wading through the cumbersome legal talk does get easier every day, and I can tell that things are becoming clearer. It also helps that the big concepts, like the federal and state court systems and how to brief a case, are discussed in at least 3 or 4 of my 6 classes.

Does anyone remember the episode of Saved By the Bell when the history teacher talked so fast that Jessie's paper was smoldering b/c she was writing so fast? I am in Z) and had two hours of Civil Procedure (CivPro). Our assignment over the weekend was to read 20 pages, the first three rules of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and two cases. Doesn't sound like it would take long, but because you have to look up all the technical terms in Black's Law Dictionary, it probably took me 4 hours total. I think I spent 2.5 hours this afternoon reading 9 pages for Torts, and now I have spent more time reading than I did my whole senior year of undergrad combined. :)

Met lots of cool people so far - including many who are in their late 20's. High school reunion was a blast, more than I expected it to be. People were good about mingling with other "cliques" - except for the football players and cheerleaders. The rest of us agreed that we were glad we had grown up!

Oh yeah, drove by the DG house because tonight is Bid Night, and their sign on the house was precious - "DGs & The City - Get Carried Away with DG." Haven't heard news about their numbers yet ... hope it's good again! I met a Delta Iota today who graduated in December and is in my class - Mary Lynn Benton. You might remember her, she spoke at the reunion in February.

OK, back to work now! Looks like it's getting close to being done, too.

Got to go to bed soon so I will be well-rested for my first day of school ... breakfast starts at 8:00 on the North Campus Quad!

As promised ...

I am finally going to join the club and start a blog of my own. (And get into the habit of checking in on everyone else's!) I doubt I will get to post every day, but we will see ...
